Maria LoConte is renowned for her distinctive, unique and widely recognized work as a broadcast designer and director. In this next chapter, she has taken the same sensibilities, creativity, sense of design and composition and translated them into bespoke works in wood. Working in both Lexington and Provincetown, Massachusetts, every piece is created by hand an no two are identical.
“I really have no interest in creating the same thing over and over again. Rather, I enjoy the discovery of doing something unique and different. I am inspired mostly by the material…reclaimed wood especially. Often, it’s the wood itself, the texture, shape, species, the history of it that suggests whatit should become.I source from many places but primarily Longleaf Lumber in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Every board they harvest has a story. My goal is to respect the history and character of materials while incorporating them into unique pieces informed by a modern aesthetic."
