Lauren Herzak-Bauman’s practice is three-fold: pottery, sculpture, and public art. Within each of these practices, she uses concept and craft to create a transformative experience for her audience. A cup can do that. An immersive installation can do that too. Her vases, bowls, and plates are sculptural, somewhat architectural, with a respect for the natural shape and life of the glaze itself. These faceted pieces, with their gorgeous matte glazes, are reminiscent of found objects water-weathered and time-worn.
